The Jamieson Wellness Scientific Advisory Board has a mandate focused on innovation. Board members are experts or researchers in fields of science correlated to key product areas including herbals, omega nutrition, sports nutrition, joint health and gastrointestinal products. The Jamieson Wellness Scientific Advisory Board works with the Company’s innovation team to generate proprietary ideas and provide insights on emerging products and areas for R&D, based on the latest scientific developments. Each board member’s knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies within each of their respective fields provides insights that will help shape our future product developments.
Dr Aronne is the Sanford I. Weill Professor of Metabolic Research at Weill Cornell Medical College where he directs the Comprehensive Weight Control Center, a state of the art, multidisciplinary obesity research and treatment program. He has been on the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine since 1986.
Dr. Aronne is also CEO and a director of BMIQ, a cloud based weight management system that is delivered by health care providers and an independent director of Myos Rens Corporation. Dr. Aronne is current Chairman of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and former president of the Obesity Society. Since 2001 he has been ranked in Castle Connelly’s Top Doctors in NY directory as a specialist in obesity and internal medicine.
Dr. Aronne graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and with a Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by a Kaiser Foundation Fellowship at Weill Cornell.
Dr. Jäger is a globally recognized inventor of functional foods and dietary supplements, as well as an award-winning speaker in these subject areas. He began his scientific career developing new bio-active ingredients for a leading multi-national billion dollar company and advanced in his career from director of research and development to vice president of marketing and sales.
Dr. Jäger has developed many new products that currently lead the supplement and food industry, and designed and conducted clinical studies on prominent ingredients and respected products. He has authored and published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers, industry publications and mainstream media articles on sports nutrition, brain, joint, heart, and gut health, and is a leading expert in the field of probiotics.
A postdoctoral scholar in bio-organic chemistry at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, Calif., Dr. Jäger originally earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Bonn in Germany. Dr. Jäger also holds an MBA from the University of Wurzburg, Germany, is a certified sports nutritionist (CISSN) and Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (FISSN). He is currently a member of numerous scientific associations, including, most notably, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).
Dr. Ragupathy is the Adjunct Professor, College of Biological Sciences, Curator of the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario’s BIO Herbarium and Co-Director of NHP Research Alliance at the University of Guelph.
His research has impacted policy on biodiversity and international trade of herbal products including product authentication and certification standards within the food and natural product industry within Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Through this research he co-developed TRU-ID commercial DNA probes and lab SOPs for new industry standards in natural ingredient identification and authentication.
Dr. Ragupathy has authored over 90 publications including books and journal papers on genomic diversity and molecular diagnostic tools for plant identification. He has discovered and described several new plant species (in India and China), and plant based medicine and food; currently he is working on DNA-based tools for the identification of coffee, tea and chocolate.
Dr. Ragupathy attained his PhD in botany and genetics from University of Madras (1992), followed by a post doctorate in ethnobotany genomics at Central Queensland University (1998) and University of Guelph (2003-2006).
